First Ballot for Eastern Synod Bishop

As delegates arrived for the Thursday morning session of the Eastern Synod Assembly, they were greeted with the results of the first ballot for Bishop. A total of 75% of the popular vote is required to declare a Bishop elected on the first ballot. As no one individual received the required number, an election was not declared on the first ballot.

Delegates wasted no time and went directly into the second ballot for Bishop. On the second ballot for Bishop, the names from the first ballot become the nominating list for the second ballot. On the second ballot an individual requires 2/3 of the vote to be declared elected.
