Saskatchewan Synod Re-Elects Bishop Cindy Halmarson

On the second ballot for Bishop, Rev. Cindy Halmarson was re-elected Bishop of the Saskatchewan Synod for a second four-year term.

In her address to the convention and acceptance of the call to Bishop, Bishop Halmarson noted, “Along the way, I’ve been asked a hundred timed if I enjoy the role of being Bishop. I tell them I don’t always enjoy everything I have to do. But I still feel called and supported and prepared to continue the work that lies ahead. I would be honoured to serve four more years as Bishop.”


Saskatchewan Synod Convention Commences

The 2006 Saskatchewan (SK) Synod Convention commenced on Thursday night. Opening worship with Eucharist was held at Messiah Lutheran Church in Prince Albert. SK Synod Bishop Cindy Halmarson preached and presided at the worship service.

In her sermon, Bishop Halmarson reflected on the theme of the convention, In Mission for Others: Building Bridges.

Anglican Church of Canada (ACC) Bishop, Rev. Anthony Burton, of the Diocese of Saskatchewan, assisted in the meal and brought warm greetings to the convention delegates after the worship service. Bishop Burton celebrated the Waterloo Declaration in his address to the convention and noted that he is thankful for the full communion shared by his church and the Evangelical Lutheran Church in Canada.
